Visit to Moscow by Secretary Mr. Nikitiadi

Deputy Minister Mr. Nikitiadis while in Moscow had discussions on issues related to the development of tourism through the facilitation of visa procedures. For that reason Mr. Nikitiadis met with representatives from the Visa Center,who assured him that Russians are keen on visiting Greece and noted that they consider to be positive all actions aiming to simplify the process of visa issuing.
The representatives informed him that 5 new offices issuing visa are ready to serve the public and they will be in cooperation with a network of 177 access points in order to promote this goal.
According to statistics, 328.000 Russians got visa to Greece this year, which is a number increased by 52% compared to 2009, while further increase of 50% is expected for 2011.
Moreover, Deputy Minister Mr. Nikitiadis, at a press conference stated that there are opportunities for investment by proceeding to competitions of estates with tourist interest so as to attract entrepreneurs for new investments.
Above all, he mentioned that the Law on Investment and fast track actions are being simplified in their procedures so that investments will be prompt. Mr. Nikitiadis noted that Greece has proceeded to interventions in many areas, including tourism, in order to overcome the financial crisis.
Mr. Nikitiadis, during his visit to Moscow, met with the Ambassador of Greece in Moscow Mr. Michael Spinellis, Deputy Ambassador Mr. Ioannis Plotas, Consul Mr. Theodosis Theos and representatives from travel agencies.
